Weekend Update - Bullet Style August 23, 2004
We had a good time visiting my parents this weekend, and we ate very well. Cajun food is yummy. So is cake.
Here are the highlights from this weekend:
- I was informed by my mother that my unwed teenage cousin is pregnant.
- I was also informed that a different cousin’s soon to be ex-wife is about to pop out another baby fathered by someone else. This cousin and ex are the parents of the little boys that my parents have custody of right now. Totally fucked up situation.
- My mother tried to get me to tell my grandparents about our IVF. Not happening. They just wouldn’t get it. See above for examples of how reproduction is handled on that side of the family.
- I got my first injection bruise Saturday night. It’s a lovely shade of purple and quite large.
- I took my last birth control pill on Saturday. Yay!
- I gave myself my first non husband involved injection last night. It went surprisingly well.
I guess that’s about it. That’s enough for one weekend, I think.

I’m so sorry about the knocked up family news. It is never easy to take. I hope to hear YOU are expecting soon! :) Good luck!
Here’s hoping that yours is the next family pregnancy to be announced!
Congrats on doing that last injection all by yourself.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees doing injections as a small victory. :)
Sorry to hear about the family baby mama-drama.
Infertility is so unfair. Good job on doing your first solo shot.

I hate hearing pregnancy news like that! UGH!
And congrats on the solo injection! I’m still too big of a chicken to do it myself. However, I have gotten to the point where I can actually watch my husband do it. Watching needle go in and everything! That’s a big deal for me. I am afraidy-cat when it comes to needles. . .
I hope all goes well with this cycle and soon you’ll have baby news of your own!

Your are one up on me. I cannot do my own injections. But then again, I had to get poked 4 times today for my lab draw, so my limitations of pain are constantly expanding. Also, if any of these messed up family memebers asks you to go to a studio, like Fox, to be on a “surprise” show, say no.

Glad to hear you had a good time but sorry to hear about the two pregnancy news. That part sucks. I don’t know why but it seems now that I realize I am infertile, I’m hearing about undeserving/unprepared pregnant women everywhere. Am I just more aware or what? It just isn’t fair.
I hope that your first IVF will be a success, Amanda! Keep up the shots and best of luck!
