I can only imagine the agony of having to wait until the weekend to test. But do try to hold out for as long as you can. . .I’m not sure how accurate this info is, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read that HPT’s aren’t all that reliable following IVF. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the rationale for that.

I am pretty impressed you have waited this long to test. I think I used up like 7 tests during my first IVF cycle. Maybe you can at least hold out until Friday. And then, of course, let all of us in bloglandia know the results!

It’s because HPTs measure HCG levels. HCG is also what’s used to “trigger” ovulation in IVF. So, if you test too early you can get a false positive from the leftover HCG in your system from trigger. Usually it takes 10-14 days for the HCG from the trigger shot to leave your system. I figure if I test 18 or 19 days past trigger I should be ok in the false positive category. There’s also a risk of getting a false negative if you test too early, and there’s not enough HCG in your system to register on an HPT. Betas are much more sensitive. If you wait long enough, that shouldn’t be a factor either. My beta is so freaking far past my ER that the HPT should be fairly accurate if I test this weekend.

Here's my $.02, since I know you're dying for it. ;-) Wait until Saturday. That's only 3 days away (easy!) but definitely far enough from your trigger shot that a positive will be for real. Plus, then you'll have the whole weekend to celebrate the good news.

See, I'm thinking nothing but ++ thoughts for you, which is why I'm not willing to entertain the idea of anything but a BFP this weekend. Can't hurt and might help, right?

Oh to hell with it.. I say TEST! As long as your 14 days past trigger… test your ass off. LOL

I’m feelin’ ya! The wait is definitely the hardest part. I say go ahead and test. Enjoy that second line, whether it’s a false + or not! And since you are already 14 days past the HCG shot, your chances of getting a false + are very low. Good luck!
