Still in the Game May 27, 2006
I was absolutely terrified going in for my beta this morning. My hands were literally shaking and when asked for my cell phone number, I could not remember it for anything. I was convinced that I was going to get terrible news.
My hands started shaking again later in the day when my cell phone rang, and I saw my clinic’s number pop up on caller ID. They were shaking even more as I wrote down the number 1013.
It’s still not exactly doubling, but it went up. I’m honestly shocked. That makes for a doubling time of 52 hours between betas 2 and 3, up from 54.4 hours earlier in the week. It could be better, but it could be much, much worse.
I’m done with betas now. Next up is an ultrasound a week from Monday.

Yours was the first blog I checked this evening. I’ve been thinking about you all day. I’m so happy for you and have my fingers crossed for the first u/s.
Good News!! Doubling can be 48 to 72 hours, I have everything crossed for you.
yahoo! to semi-quote a brilliantly funny woman I know.
my hands were literally shaking as I enered this blog. Amanda I am so so pleased for you that the beta came in so good. nothing wrong with a 52 hour doubling, now another long wait begins until the first u/s.
thinking of you and still keeping things crossed. did I mention yahoooooo!
Amanda, I am so so so so so so elated for you!!!! Mucho hugs girlfriend!!!!!
So far so good…will be thinking good thoughts for you!
Manana, that is great news! 52 hours is just fine (not fabo, but not bad at all!) from what I understand! I know you still have a long way to go and this is still just NBHHY NBHHY! I don’t know how I’m gonna make it until NEXT Monday! All my fingers and toes remain firmly crossed!
I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I want this so badly for you. You and Dan really deserve a nice big break!
I’ve been refreshing all night…I think this is great news! I will be continuing the good thoughts as you wait for your first u/s. I have a good feeling….
Wow. Still chugging away, wonderful stuff there dear, I’m thinking of you.
Good! Keeping you in my thoughts!
Wow, such relief. Now to wait until next Monday.
This is such good news, Amanda. I’m glad you and Dan have a degree of relief tonight. Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!
Great news! You’re absolutely in the game. I hope time flies between now and Monday.
52 hours is wonderful! I am so, so, so happy for you guys.
Yay! So glad that things are looking ok so far- i have a FEELING (looking at you earnestly with furrowed brow). No seriously this is great news and I’m crossing all my bodily parts that it stays this way.
PS- Feel free to pinch the crank-o-meter; Jen the cleverest person in the world made it!
Wonderful News! I’m looking forward to hearing more good news after the ultrasound!
I so have my fingers (and toes) crossed for you. I’m hoping the good news continues and that this little one sticks but good. I won’t even say try to relax since I know that’s an impossibilty.
Great news Amanda. All my bits are still crossed that this is it for you and Dan.
Any good house hunting finds? Were you even able to devote any attention to it after getting the good news?
Good luck with the u/s!
Take care and wishing you the best
Dear Amanda, I am so happy to hear that! I will continue to keep everything crossed for a lovely ultrasound in a week, and for great news that keeps on coming after that!
Beta hurdle is over, now let’s hop over the u/s one.
this sounds like fabulous news to me!!!! Keeping my fingers still crossed though for the ultrasound!
That is great news! WOW! I am so happy for you!
So glad to hear this! I hope the wait for the ultrasound goes a little smoother for you.
oh amanda, that’s good news!
This is great news! I’m sure you know this, but I just wanted to say that at my clinic at least, all they wanted to see was a 60% rise over a 48 hour period. Also, I have heard that FET numbers don’t reach the same high numbers, but it doesn’t mean that they won’t be just fine! Congrats!!!!
Phew, that is good news. I’m excited to hear that your beta is still increasing, even if not as fast as you would like to see. Good luck with the ultrasound and I hope that it will relieve your worries about what is going on down there! Congratulations.
Sticking with the NBHHY theme. I will keep you in my thoughts as you go for your ultrasound, and am desperately hoping to hear nothing but elation in that post.
Yeah! Keep coming, good news! Hope the u/s is great!
Yay, Amanda!
I’m really glad to hear that Amanda. Good luck next week. NBHHY.
Sounds good to me, Amanda. What a relief. *sigh*. Here’s hoping that the next month isn’t too insanity-making.
Congratulations Amanda. I am so glad you get to relax a little bit more now. x
This is sounding VERY hopeful!
Hang in there!
HUGE exhale!! Now relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!
Holy cow.
So now I sit and twiddle my thumbs til Monday. Now *this* is a game I can root for!
Beautiful, simply beautiful. Waiting anxiously (well, not as anxiously as you are, I’m sure) for next Monday. It’ll be here before you know it :-)
That’s fantabulous news =)
Now I can’t wait until Monday.
Whew. So glad to hear your good news.
Oh thank goodness.
I’ve not commented before, I just wanted to say thank goodness and good luck. I’m thinking of you.
What great news. Hope the u/s goes well.
