What a Difference a Week Can Make September 13, 2006

Just over a week ago I was getting antsy about not feeling movement. To be honest, I think I might have been but just didn’t realize it. Now, I’m feeling the little guy quite a bit. It’s different than I expected. I guess that shouldn’t be surprising to me. It’s not like I know what I’m doing one iota with this pregnancy stuff.

What I thought was gas bubbles a week or two ago, I’m now pretty darn sure is actually movement. The past few days the frequency has increased quite a bit.

It’s weird because while this makes things feel a bit more real, it also makes them more surreal. I know that makes no sense, but it’s not like much ever does. I am 20.5 weeks pregnant, and I still really can’t believe it.

I don’t really expect the current state of things to truly sink in anytime soon. I don’t need to take it all in at once, though. Today I’m focusing on how thankful I am for these little bubbles fluttering around inside me. It’s truly amazing to me on so many levels.

It’s great, isn’t it? I hope the increased movement will help allay a lot of your fears–I found it really reassuring (and completely freaky, all at the same time!).

I love, love, love movement. Have even been justifying eating way more sugar than I should bc it makes the baby more active. Hmmm… maybe that explains why I’ve gained so much weight.

My boys are six weeks old and it STILL hasn’t sunk in. Enjoy the movement, I miss that so much.

yeah wait a few weeks and he’ll be rolling over your stomach (thus emptying the contents) and kicking your ribs. LOL Enjoy these first few weeks of movement.. later on you’ll freak out when you don’t feel him for an hour or so, but no worries.. he’ll be sleeping!

So glad to hear that you are doing well… My boys are 13 months and I am still trying to figure out where they came from, it must be an IF’er thing!

Take care

Ah, I love it! Isn’t that just the most incredible feeling?! It gets better and better (and then perhaps a little worse and worse as they start running out of room in there!).

Enjoy these magical moments :-)

I’m so happy for you!! As an IM, I won’t get to feel those “bubbles”, but reading you describe it helps me get a better perspective of what it would have felt like for me. Thanks so much for sharing!!

YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn’t the neatest thing in the world???? Wait until he can bop you a bit harder…

I could lay and feel Lizzy move all day.

Congratulations!

Yep. Gas bubbles without the gas pain : )
I am so happy that you are getting to experience this!

17. Rach - September 15, 2006

We’re at the same stage in our pregnancies I think. I have experienced movement once before with my daughter, but it still amazes me. I am just taking it a day at a time, like you, enjoying the movement. I am so happy for you!

It is SO neat when you can actually see little baby knees and elbows protruding from your belly, or when you push a knee back in and they kick you right back!

I hope feeling the little one kick helps sdecrease some of the anxiety! I know I love it.
